Urbana is roughly belted by Fingerboard Road to the south and Route 85 to the west. I-70 borders the community to the north, and Ijamsville Road to the east. Frederick sits northwest of the area, Linganore-Bartonsville to the north, Monrovia, Ijamsville, and later Damascus, to the east, Hyattstown to the south, and Buckeystown and Ballenger Creek to the west. Clarksburg and later Germantown and Gaithersburg are also within close distance to the community.

People originally started flocking here based on its proximity to Frederick, but new developments have swelled up the community’s population to a point where everything is expanding. Homes for sale in Urbana consists of single-family detached homes, townhouses, row homes and condos. The architectural styles featured in this town are mainly Colonial, Victorian and some ramblers.

Things to Do in Urbana

The majority of options when it comes to restaurants and the typical errand-run are located near the intersection of Route 80 and I-270. Situated on Fingerboard Road at the Fingerboard Plaza, is Mangia e Bevi. Considered one of the best Italian restaurants in Maryland, this popular spot features classic Italian wine, cuisine and ambiance.

For shopping and more dining choices, drive to the Francis Scott Key Mall located in the northwest region of the community. Some stores found here include JCPenney, DSW and Macy’s. Outside the mall are the MARC train station, a Target, Home Depot, Kohl’s and a Chuck E. Cheese’s. Some great restaurants located here include Barley & Hops Grill and Microbrewery. This spacious brewpub serves up house-brand and seasonal beers, a hearty American menu and homemade desserts.

Enjoying the Great Outdoors in Urbana

Adventure Park USA is one of the recreational highlights of the Urbana area. This popular family destination offers diversions like mini-golf, a climbing wall, go-karts, roller coasters and bumper cars. Located in the northeast portion of Urbana and bordering New Market, this amusement theme park and family fun center also provides an ample amount of old arcade games, laser tag, a ropes course and a carousel, making this a popular family recreation spot.

Worthington Manor and Holly Hills Country Clubs are two golf clubs located in the Urbana area. The Whiskey Creek Golf Course, PB Dye Golf Club and Little Bennett Golf Course are also within the town’s boundaries. Urbana District Park is located on Urbana Pike and is a wonderful community park. Amenities include a baseball field, football field, picnic shelters, playgrounds, trails and soccer fields. Urbana is also known for the Mid-Maryland Celtic Festival that is held annually and features live music, children’s events, a car show and more.

Traveling Around Urbana

I-270 is the area’s most used north-south route. Driving southbound on this route will take you pass Gaithersburg and into Rockville, while driving northbound will lead you into Frederick where the interstate disperses into I-70. I-70 is an important east-west route that if driven westbound will take you into Hagerstown and eventually Pennsylvania. Other important routes in Urbana include Route 355 and Route 80. The Monocacy MARC station sits off of Route 355 and services the town and the surrounding neighborhoods.
